Automated High Density Boat Storage Equipment
Product Overview
Aero-Docks invented and manufactures a patent pending computer controlled Storage System for boats, aircraft, cargo shipping containers, industrial parts and heavy equipment. Aero-Docks takes present storage to a all new level of high technology by offering advantages not found in any other existing storage system. Aero-Docks is safer and faster. Most important of all, Aero-Docks stores 30% to 50% MORE in the same amount of space dramatically increasing the R.O.I. Aero-Docks has patents pending on four variations of the System. We can store inside a 150 mph or 200 mph certified building boats in excess of 100 ft. and 200 metric tons. Forklift technology boat maximum boat length is 46 vs. over 100 ft. for Aero-Docks.
Aero-Docks uses proven technology. President, Richard Lydle, designed and manufactured similar systems over 19 years ago in the past for GE Electromotive and the aircraft industry to move equipment weighing over 750,000 pounds to storage and through assembly lines. These systems are still being used today.
Why vertical storage? We Create Real-estate. Available land is scarce and getting more expensive. The only way to get larger returns is by using technology that will increase storage density and the ability to store at greater heights.using airspace to multiply greatly profitability. Aero-Docks increases both. The Aero-Docks technology replaces inefficient and weight restricted fork lift method of storing boats out of the water. We can store a 100 ft yacht on the top level as easily as ground level !
CURRENT DRY STACK FORKLIFT OPERATION
The traditional way to store boats out of the water has been to house them in racks using a noisy, slow smoky diesel fork lift. The fork lift requires huge aisles within the building (typically twice the length of the largest boat to be stored within the building) and large outdoor .5 meter/20 inches + thick concrete aprons for negotiating the boat from the water to inside the storage building. The equipment requires 2 people to run the fork lift and falls prey to human error. Most fork lift storage marinas cause annual damages to customers’ boats that average 158 British £/ $220.00 per boat within a typical 150 boat marina.
For a dry stack marina of 250 boats that equates to nearly 40,000 £/ $29,000 per year to repair the damages caused by the fork lift and its operators. That does not include the good will lost to boat owners whose boats are damaged and have downtime to make the necessary repairs.
Common Designs To All Aero-Dock Systems
All Systems use a semi- automatic or fully automated boat lift or a launch machine to get the boats out of and into the water.

Waterside Lift and Launch Machine
Aisle width is only .6 meters/24 inches longer than the longest boat to be stored.
Automated Computer Controls operate the equipment consistently and safely.
Redundant drive components are incorporated into Aero-Docks lifts and Elevator Transporters that assure 100% equipment up time and safety.
World Wide Internet monitoring of all equipment components.
All Aero-Docks systems reduce labor costs and building size.
All Aero-Docks systems shorten boat storage and retrieval cycle time.
Aero-Docks can accommodate boats heavier than any fork lift system and eliminate vessel damage costs and improve safety.
Computers track boat usage and reassign boat housing locations automatically as boat owner usage data is accumulated.
Boat storage can be done within buildings in excess of 60 meters/200 feet in height.
Common Design Traits To Aero-Docks 2, Aero-Docks 3 and Aero-Docks 4
Systems 2, 3 and 4 may use a lower cost Bunk/Rail system that is used for multiple vessels or a custom carrier that stays with that specific boat while it is in storage. The specific carrier is typical for vessels larger than 15 meters/50 feet. The bunk/rail system has lower cost and faster storage cycle times.
These three systems all use a device called a “Tug” which is mounted on the Transporter. The Tug does the moving of boats from the water to the Transporter which then moves the boat to its location within the building.
The Tug also incorporates a simple lift system. This system raises and lowers the vessel on to either the Bunk/Rail system or the custom built carrier for larger boats and then to its assigned storage space within the building.
Aero-2, 3 and 4 can be adapted to utilize the electric power option. This system is computer monitored and allows a boat’s refrigerators, ice makers and other electrical systems to operate while in inside storage. This patent pending system is only available from Aero-Docks, LLC.
COMPETITIVE EDGE
Aero-Docks’ 5-6-minute storage cycle is faster (more than twice as fast) than all other storage system. This is possible because of its unique rigid traveling elevator. Aero-Docks lifts up to 400,000 lbs. Boat forklift systems lift to only 52,000 lbs. Overhead crane systems lift heavy weights, but as the weight of objects increases so does the retrieval time by as much as 6 times. Aero-Docks patented system remains constant, no matter the weight. Fork lifts require significantly more nonproductive land to maneuver – wasted space vs. income space. Systems 1, 2, 3 and 4. Aero-Docks is the only system that can electrifies boats in storage, which allows refrigerators to continue to run eliminating the need to restock refrigerator contents after each boat outing. Also all other onboard systems can be run.
No center aisle is required by the Aero-Docks 4 system. Both forklift and crane systems require a wide center aisle running the entire length of the building in order to maneuver their equipment. This eliminates much useable and expensive storage space.
Aero-Docks is engineered to store up to 30 stories. In comparison, crane systems can store to 12 stories and forklifts to only 4 - 5.
Aero-Docks increases storage capabilities in density and height, unmatched by any system. This empowers Aero-docks to store 30% - 50% more, resulting in a huge increase to the bottom-line.
Forklifts cause damage during the loading and unloading process and the crane system’s long cables act like a pendulum making storage very slow and potentially dangerous. Aero-Docks transports quickly and safely. In boat applications, each vessel has its own computer program assuring perfect handling each and every time the boat is moved.
Aero-Docks is environmentally responsible using quiet energy efficient electric motors rather than polluting with gasoline or diesel engines. On Marine sites, Aero-docks installs piers and docks made of composite materials that never need to be painted, eliminating chemicals from leaching into the water. Aero-Docks recycles water used in the boat wash down before the boat is put into storage.
CUSTOMER PROFILE
Marine customers include existing marinas, marina, FBO flight operators and shipping ports that want to modify their facility to allow “more” and larger boats, airplanes and shipping containers to be stored within their current space.
Boat storage is sold by the length and beam (width) of a boat. Larger boat command a much higher price per length/beam and modifying with Aero-Docks allows for much larger boats to be stored within the existing building than any system in use.
Outside of the boating industry, the applications are limitless for any business needing to store or warehouse equipment, machinery, aircraft, shipping containers etc. weighing up to 750,000 pounds in a cost efficient precise and basically human error free manner.
MARKET DESCRIPTION
Marinas – There are currently over 7,200 existing marinas in the U.S. Worldwide there is over 10 times that number. We have had interest from as far away as Abu Dhabi for their project at the Schumacher Tower and London for the 2012 Olympics.
Aircraft Storage – Aero-Docks has been contacted by John Wayne Orange County Airport, California and Midway Airport, Chicago about using the system for multi-level storage of executive aircraft.
Commercial Storage – Potential industries include steel, heavy equipment (Caterpillar) and bulk chemical processors to name a few.
